SPIM-L is for the discussion of any and all matters relating to la Service de la securite des incendies de Montreal ("SSIM"), its predecessors (including the Service de Prevention des Incendies de Montreal (SPIM)) and other fire departments (paid, part paid or volunteer) in the Greater Montreal area. Topics might include, but are not limited to, reports on recent fires, history, training, tactics, labor-management issues, etc. The list was created by Jim Hay after a group of us (Peter, Vern, Craig etc) got tired of CCing each other with news of fire service-related information.

While there is no FAQ there are several www pages dedicated to SPIM and surrounding departments. Try http://www.coderouge.com or http://www.incendie.com .
